The streets of Perth were awash with teal this morning as the 12th HBF Run for reason kicked off in the heart of the CBD.
With an incredible 37,000 registrations, this year’s HBF Run for a Reason is the biggest in the event’s history.
Entrants ran, walked and wheeled their way through the streets of Perth, choosing from three different courses including the Brooks Half Marathon, the Specsavers 12km and the CommBank 4km.
This year, the final amount raised has already hit more than $1.2 million for more than 280 charities, bringing the total amount raised since 2010 to more than $12.5 million. Donations can still be made via hbfrun.com.au until the end of June.
We are thrilled that this year’s event has been a sell-out and the biggest HBF Run for a Reason on record,” said Lachlan Henderson, HBF Chief Executive Officer.
“HBF Run for a Reason is an incredibly important event to HBF and to Western Australia. It’s been an annual feature on our calendar for over a decade now and it’s become the biggest running attraction in the state.
“It’s a privilege to partner with our community who participate for reasons unique to each individual – be it their health and wellness or to raise funds for a charity close to their heart.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who has raised funds and donated, small or large, every cent helps the work of some amazing local charities.”
Currently sitting at the top of the donation leader board is Cancer Council WA, followed by Lifeline WA, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund), represented by ‘Spud King’ Tony Galati who successfully completed the 4km course alongside family members and Spudshed employees.
